Barcelona, March 18, 2024. Padel Galis together with Realturf Systems and Fernando Belasteguín are proud to present their latest innovation in the world of padel: the new PGR by Bela flooring, specifically designed to improve the playing experience and raise the standard of competition in padel.
This new turf has been created with a focus on optimizing playing conditions, especially to improve the properties of the turf currently being used as flooring for professional and amateur competitions, in favor of greater agility in the game and instant comfort when stepping on the court. The Institute of Biomechanics of Valencia and the Spanish Padel Federation have certified the properties of PGR turf, using an approach that measures and contrasts the information of the pavement and the biomechanics of the player.
The main benefits of the PGR pavement lie, first of all, in an increase of the player’s slip, to avoid an excessive and less aggressive grip for the player. This makes it possible to achieve a faster track that is easier to slide on, avoiding possible knee and ankle injuries. Secondly, it allows the reduction of the deformation capacity of the turf pavement, due to the impacts generated by the athletes during the game, making the durability of the turf more durable. The designed pavement has obtained a lower level of deformation, thus achieving this objective.
In addition, Fernando Belasteguín points out that this grass has a clear effect on the interaction with the ball, “making the ball accelerate a little more and reach the padel with more force”, favoring a higher and faster bounce. Finally, according to the biomechanical analyses carried out, the results indicate that the increased sliding may prove to be less injurious, offering a much more comfortable sensation for the player.
Based on the tests carried out, the improvements of this new turf do not penalize the surface, neither at the level of performance, nor at the level of perception by the players, quite the contrary. With the creation of the PGR, “we have achieved a turf aimed at the majority of people who play padel from the need to make a product more adapted to the player”, as Fernando Belasteguín himself says, achieving a floor that improves the cushioning and agility of the player.
It should also be noted that PGR turf is sustainable, since both the backing and the filaments are 100% recyclable, as all the turf is manufactured from the same family of polymers, facilitating more efficient recycling of the product, without the need for chemical treatment or separation of materials during recycling.
Undoubtedly, this is a new turf that reflects the great work and experience of Padel Galis and RealTurf, along with Bela, achieving a leap of quality in the world of paddle.
